I'm so glad I hope they all end up beautiful ducks. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I missed this Luckysmum! Thanks for those, wow the veins are so dark! I was amazed how easily I could see the veins in the 6 obvious ones if mine on day 5. I didn't expect to see the embryos so easy but you couldn't miss them and I only candled them in the incubator for one second with the lid lifted a little.

Haha yeah very dirty eggs is not very fun I'm guessing. For better or worse i don't regret washing mine I don't want stinky old humid poo in there in three weeks time :lau

I think a lot of the dirt is mud I did what you did and scraped and used a paper towel to brush off as mush as possible. It will be school holidays when they hatch and I will be home I plan to take out the egg shells asap. I was to scared to wash as they are porous and I didn't want any of the bacteria entering the egg.
I am so excited and everyone at work wants me to bring them in (I work in kindy and pre-primary). I've had a few ask me if they can have some ducklings. I might have to hatch more. :ya

I know i was scared too about it but I guess I will find out if I've messed them up :fl. I used to work in kinder 2 days a week and a 5-6 class 2 days before I had my son who just turned 2. My kids would have loved ducklings, I would have been excited to take them too!:love

Luckys mum I couldn't help it I checked properly this evening at 6.5 days and there are visible embryos in 9, less developed veins in 1 so not sure if an early quitter and 1 infertile. 9 clearly visible embryos out of 11 is amazing for shipped eggs! I know they are unlikely to all hatch but it's a good start!!

K Riggs that great fingers crossed for no more quitters. I'm going to have to do some research soon. I have no idea on how to care for ducks. I've had chickens for the most of the last 25 years and we had chooks when I was growing up. But no one around has had ducks.
