Oh what a lovely story. My Ty would never have done that in his younger years it would have been eaten for sure.. Thor my dog though has brought me many escaped chicks or quails that have got out. He just drops them at my feet like hey mum i found another one. Not a mark on them but then again he does love his babies.
Anni remember when i first got Belgians and i named them after people in this thread. Well Anni has taken up where bidda used to be and has now decided she wishes to be inside with Ty and Thor watching tv. Not sure what it is with this breed. I'm constantly yelling anni get out and if i keep her out for a while she jumps up on the window sill and taps away with her beak..
She sneaks in but no i don't do chicken nappies at all. Hubby would think i had really lost it then.Satay ... your story is also lovely - how Thor brings you escaped littlies, because he is protective of them, and he is intelligent enough to do so. I do remember the names you gave your chickens ... and have to laugh. I am guessing that if Anni wishes to watch a bit of TV, you have to put one of those barely believable chook nappies on her ?? ... I didn't believe anything like that could possibly be available, until someone here posted a link quite a while back now !!.... she is determined to be with her friends though - tapping on the window !! Hilarious. I hope she gets to sit with them occasionally indoors.
Cheers ...
They want his attention. All you can do is trim a wing to stop them from going over the fence. While duck mating does look brutal it seems to be what works for them.Anyone have any advice on my ducks going over to the fence and doing everything they can to get my ganders attention then laying down for him to put his bill through the fence and brutally bite them on the neck and backI thought he was going to break her neck. I ran out and went mad at him and shooed her off. I can't believe they want him to do that

Hello from the NT!
It's going to be a long hot summer. We went out to the north west coast with 60 navy divers from all over Australia and most, if not all were impressed with the snow at lake Sinclair. Unfortunately I got influenza A and have been in bed since.I have been spending most of this week trying to keep my poor chickens cool. Who's of though i'd be doing that in spring. 36c last Saturday 39c Sunday and 38c Monday. Tomorrow is suppossed to be over 40c... (our average September temp is 26c)..
Oh what a shame he is sick he missed out on one of the best clearance divers reunions ever. There were a couple 80 year olds there.Satay I can't believe how hot it is for you. I'm sitting in my chair with a big cardigan on. Its been cold here I actually put the heater on last night.
Fancy I hope your feeling better soon. Its not nice being sick. I have your eggs in lock down can't wait to see them hatch. My dad was navy clearance diver during Vietnam, he's quite sick now, they say some of its due to diving in the contaminated water.
He enjoyed being in the navy though.
What a vast country we have, such a diverse land and temperatures.
