Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

OK cool, I will check back in after her first candle.

If the numbers are down I will drop Renise a line.

Trying to get some info about other dark layer breeds now, I already have a Barnevelder but she is not laying yet, also don't know just how dark they are supposed to be.

Pinky, what hurt leg symptoms have you got? Do you know the cause?

not putting weight on it, sorta kicks it out behind him. Seems like the tendon to pull the leg forward may be damaged but I don't know what I'm talking about there. Vet said it was an injury not mareks but I'm still worried.

Not sure what that could be Pinky... You could try making a brace out of bandaids but I have only heard of this being helpful in chicks under 1 week old

Have you done a search for slipped hock?

I found this one a while back. We had similar but turned out to be something different.

There is also some info in here too https://sites.google.com/a/poultrypedia.com/poultrypedia/poultry-podiatry

Can't offer much help for Luke.

I'll try to find some old pics of my partridge welsummers I used to have. My silver duckwing welsummers are not laying yet for some reason. I only have one barny left, she had a very dark egg but no other strains I had bought were very dark at all. I'll search my other external hard drive tomorrow for some pics

Thanks Chook, I was just considering sending you a PM about your dark layer in your egg tray.

Trying to find something as close as I can to that for our next hatch, then to add to our olive egger attempt next season.

Our local FW Maran eggs don't seem to be overly dark either (hence the interest in the Wellies.

Mine are not dark at all really. I have a new line of them that i have crossed with my old line and they are too young to lay yet.

My marans were what i would say quite decently dark eggs they hatched form so we will see when they start to lay.
