wow, grand job, very pretty quails.

Hi Luke

One pen is already occupied by 3 black first cross "Rhode Island White" X Araucana hens and a BBR Araucana rooster.
The next one will have my best Barred rock quartet.
And finally a Lavender Ar rooster with 3 first cross Ar X bantam White Leghorn hens.
(None crossed back to their father of course.)

I have 4 Ar roosters that I am line breeding with.

I
We had floods the girls pen was underwater. My father had a tornado and they were many of them between kiama and Nowra everyone is ok and the girls emerged dry.

Yay baby quails. Need some pics Satay.

Glad everyone else is ok.

Yeah we are about 2ks from where one of the tornados went through. Huge trees been there since I was a kid knocked down roots and all. Crazy.

So who is good at genetics?

I have a sizzle and a silkie who are the only two I can actually breed (others would be sizzle to sizzle). But......I have two concerns.

1. I'm not 100% certain they aren't from the same parents. Is inbreeding an issue in chooks? Believe its not in cage birds but wasn't sure about chickens.

And 2. I don't know if the silkie if from the same parents has the dormant frizzle gene. Will that mean I could still end up with the unwanted frazzles even though she looks normal?
