Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Hello all,
I am from the Toowoomba region.  There is an auction here on Sunday, at the Show Grounds.  Starts st 8am.  Will have to rattle my sleepy bones and get down there.  It will be my first!  Can't wait! Is any one else able to go?

Where is Toowoomba exactly I'm in Newham 2 hours out of Melbourne and since we have only got a general store fire station and school in our town we need to drive for food so the closest town would be Woodend 30 mins from were I live.

One lot of mine and kspots wellies are from Karen. I have seen her birds first hand and they are spectacular. The eggs colour is not dark but she has put alot of effort into keeping her wellies show quality and that reflects in the birds but not the egg colour.
Yep - Karen is the go to woman for Wellies here.

I sent her some pics of the eggs from the girls I got from her. She said she's trying different roos out as, from what she told me, the egg colour comes from the roos.

If you want dark eggs, there's a woman around here that has some very nice marans eggs. Her name is Wendy orchard. Should be able to find her on Facebook :)

My first little Chicks has hatched :-D it's from one of the Terry Hill Eggs so is either an Andalusian or a campine. Chook, today's hatch day for you too right?

Also, welcome to all the newcomers!!

Yep Pinky hatch finished up yesterday. It was not as successful as I would have liked but it had lots of posted eggs that didn't work and that was the last lot of eggs that were effected by the power outs and having been moved around from the crap incubator to the rcom. But I have one baby Araucana, 2 Croad Langshans, 1 dark olive egg, 5 of Terry Hills Marans and 6 my Marans. The next lot that are due in a few weeks are going really well. I have also noticed that Huxley is favouring some of the girls so I might have to split the pen up to get better fertility. I'm not too fussed for now though as I am only hatching for myself... but I feel sorry for the girls with their back feathering being damaged. Someone was advertising chook saddles, has anyone thought of using them?

Another broody chookie. Are black bantum leghorns more prone to being clucky? I have three and I swear they go broody at least once every 3 weeks. I felt awful moving her to a broody breaker but we're not finished building the baby safe pen so can't leave her there with the eggs. It looked so sweet when the eggs rolled from under her wing and she pushed them back under with her beak. Oh bad mama feeling here :(
