Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

For round perches, I just go up to the bush behind my place and get some good sized deadwood. I think it is more natural than the shiny round timber. One of my ladders is round branches attached to boards with hooks on the end of the boards, which just attaches to any mesh. Most of my other perches are boards, about 70x35. Some of my nest boxes are old mower catchers.
I used branches for perches too, work great, look nice, and they were free from the bush.

Wilma is back with the rest of the chickens this morning.. Only 16 hours after her comb removal.. She is doing great! Couldn't wait to get in the garden and roll in the dirt!
YAY Wilma!

So as I'm still new to having chickens I need some help! I've heard of several different answers so thought I'd ask on here!

- When making a perch for inside the coop do you use round perched or rectangle? Same for ladders ect?

- my chickens are out of their coop all day and I don't think they will go back in to lay eggs, should I make a egg box for the lower section of the coop? Also do fake eggs in the nest box help?

- I noticed this morning that one of my chickens was doing this funny squat! Like bending at the knees and walking funny. Is this a sign of eggs soon? Do I need to do anything?

Thanks for any help

Fake eggs do help. I just use golf balls though. It encourages new layers and shows them where to lay.
Is she just squating when you go near her? If so then yes eggs are coming soon. Shes actually doing it because...well...she wants you to mate with her

!! They do it when a rooster comes near. You don't need to do anything, except maybe get a basket for all the new eggs you will be getting
