Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

Quote: It's better if it stays as snow until most of the water has gone, unless there are no rivers to take it away. Then warmer weather would help evaporate it away. How about building a huge duck pond that would have a pretty low surface level and could store excess water in times of heavier rain? You could dam up the river bank with the soil you remove to keep the overflowing water from wreaking havoc on you property.

Our river is tidal and the mountain river feeds into it . There is no stopping it , just have to manage it as best can be. Being as our house was the first built in the area , we are above the 100 year flood zone. The old folks knew what they were doing , go figure they didn't even have GPS.

I sorted it out the humidity issue in incubator and I'm going to do a dry hatch as it seems easier to follow. At the moment I have moved the incubator to my room and i put it in a Styrofoam box as i was concerned the box it came in want allowing enough air to circulate, but it takes so much room. Will it be safe to put it in the cardboard box it came in with the foam surrounding it or will it not allow enough air to circulate when I have eggs in it?

Sad news over the weekend - I lost my little Pencilled Rock bantam girl to my dogs. She decided perhaps the grass was greener on the other side of the run fence and flew over it. Unfortunately my dogs were in the yard, saw her and got her

So everyone had their wings clipped over the weekend. It sucks because I was going to do them all over the weekend anyway, I was just a day too late

This happened while I was at the Ekka competing on Friday.

But, pics of me showing my friends' dog at the Ekka on Friday. We got second in our class.

Was a big day - up early and home late. Will do it all again next year.

Oh sorry K , it sucks when it's your own dogs cause it's hard not to hold a grudge. They were only doing what comes naturally, don't be too hard on them. My daughter and I went out on Friday night with the panacur, syringe and mite /lice spray and of course our head lamps on. One of the roos was up high and I noticed he had a red butt. Couldn't see a thing except a bit of dried poop below the vent. I pulled the poop off only to find these hiding under there.

It took us an hour and a half to worm, spray, lather feet and clip wings. Oh joy , I get to do it all again in 10 days. :barnie Congrats on your placing . I love Dalmatians , my SIL had a lovely boy named Boston. He was bitten several times by a king brown but survived to live a very long life.
