Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I think it will Fancy - this morning it was all dried and wasn't so red either so

those little Rocks sure are favourites of mine. I'm 90% sure I have a pair as well, both will be staying put

Can anyone tell me how to go about registering as a breeder in Australia?

My local council has a rule about keeping roosters on less than 8000m2, we are on a little less than that, but it seems if I am registered as a breeder it would not be a problem (we are in a rural area, backing onto the state forest, so there is nobody to annoy with the rooster, we are just not on enough land!).

I'd like to keep a rooster first and foremost to protect my hens, by potentially to breed down the track once I get to know chicken keeping a little better.

Thanks

Tim

I think you would have to join a club for the particular breed that you have say a sussex club or something like that. There is no way that I know of to just register as a breeder other wise. @Fancychooklady Might know more on the subject.

The latest hatch. However 95% of the Pekins and SLW tuned out to be duds.
Some rooster shuffling is called for I think.
Nice little Dark Barred Rocks and a solitary SLW.

I currently am running 5 pens of Araucanas with 41 birds altogether, producing an enormous amount of eggs.
Getting pestered by people all over Australia wanting me to post eggs to them - I may give in one of
these days and try it out.

Fancy sorry to hear you lost a little one; that is sad

Ash they are so cute!

Just wondering what is the earliest anyone has had a broody start laying again? Tina’s bubs are only four and half weeks old and she laid an egg today. It is definitely hers as she is still separated with the two bubbies and I doubt very much that they laid it! Lol

She is still ‘mothering’ them to a degree but has drawn the line as sharing her mealworms now

My Wellies started back maybe 3 weeks after they stopped mothering their broods? Mind you though, they were with them for longer than usual as it was coming into winter when they were raising their chicks.

The rare breeds association would be a good place to start. Just depends on which breed of chicken you want to keep. You need to register and pay an annual fee but that could differ from state to state. If you go on their website there is a phone number .
