Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

@City farm - that is a lovely collection of eggs!

Heaps of pages so welcome to all the new folks.

Sorry for your loss Sidhe13 and K Spot.

Loved the party pics Teila.

My late contribution to food uses for eggs is my recent discovery of breakfast pizza, eaten for supper. Use a pizza base, add the tomato sauce & cheese, decorate with bacon and crack a couple of eggs on top. 18 min max at 200. Easy peasy.

I managed to find a home for Toothless! He has been fairly quiet and mostly crows in the afternoon but seeing as I have a fight with the council on my hands over the development I thought it might be prudent to make more effort once again. Then yesterday my nosey neighbour barged into my home on the pretext of giving me info about the development and said I'll just have a look at how your chickens are doing & was out the patio door before I could blink.

I explained that I was trying to find him a home and she could see his collar, but she's as mean as a snake so I've been waiting all day for the council to tap on the door. Finding him a home (& not having to take him to the market) couldn't have come at a better time.

Farewell Toothless - you will be missed.

My four ara pullets are coming along nicely. Sprinkles has left her ugly days behind and the cream one in the background is practising sitting in the revamped nestboxes. They are 17 weeks old so it seems a bit early but I'm still excited just in case she is an early layer.

check out the article that I wrote for byc about red golden pheasants....byc is expanding their learning center...im so thankful for the opportunity to do this article...
https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/...-golden-pheasant-pic-heavy-with-mutation-pics
it took so long to do but well worth it hope everyone likes the info and the pics
they will be moving the article when the pheasants/chuckars page get created but you can view it here for right now...but will more then likely be moved tomorrow...

@cwrite. If council calls I'd just sound confused and say you don't have a rooster. Make her seem a nutter lol

@birdman55. Don't know anything about them to comment but the article is easy to read and understand. They are beautiful birds!

I'm about to head off with him now, but I'm pretty sure that she has already made a name for herself with the council and developers. Anyway, I'm looking forward to removing Toothless' rooster collar. I'll let him have a good crow session before we go.

From my polish friends

Baked cheesecake

Ingredients

1 kg ricotta Cheese
8 eggs
250g caster sugar
125g unsalted butter
200g Raisins

Lightly grease and flour a rectangular pan (or which ever shape as long as it is deep)
Preheat oven to 130c
Place raisins in a bowl and just cover with boiling water. Leave to swell up.
In a large bowl add sugar, and egg yolks. Mix well until pale in colour. Slowly add the ricotta continue to mix.

In another bowl mix the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
Add the whites to the ricotta mixture and fold together. Drain the raisins well and add to the mixtures.

Pour the mixture into the prepared tin and bake for an hour. Note the cake will rise well above the tin but should not spill over. Remove from oven when cooked and allow to cool.
Decorate with icing sugar or melted choc.

@cwrite It's not as sweet a dessert as we have in aus most of the time but still a good way to use up eggs.

Glad you found him a new home.
