@Teila. She is still hanging in there. Vet rang to check on her and suggested some probiotic powder which I started yesterday and she had the last of her antibiotics yesterday morning too. She still isn't eating much and is quieter than normal but did find the energy today to jump on penny and peck her for doing the broody dance and growl too close to her. She still has a large full crop each morning. So really just still waiting to see.

The poly aid plus that I recommended in previous posts will sustain her. It is high in protein, carbohydrates and probiotics. It also helps them to regain their appetite.

I do have their soluvet one but I can't even get that into her as she won't eat anything I can add it to but I've no idea how to use a crop needle to administer this one.

I will try and remember to call out the pet shop and see if they have the other one. I am guessing it must be something they keep in the fridge if it's got probiotics?

No , on the shelf , it's a powder. It makes up to sticky sweet liquid. I draw it up into a 3-5 ml syringe holding the bird under your arm, bring your hand up from under her tummy and gently tug on the wattle. With syringe loaded , run it along the side of the beak , only a little liquid at a time. Make sure she has plenty of opportunity to swallow before continuing.
I've never used a crop needle and I've never needed to tube feed but it is something that you should research, just in case.

I wouldn't push more than ½-1ml at a time until she's swallowed, so you don't risk pushing it into her airways. It's easier to do if you have a helper, one can hold the bird and keep it calm, while the other one opens the beak and uses the (needle free) syringe. 2-3ml syringes are also great, as they fit better into the mouth.

What does Fancy think of using honey water as a homemade electrolyte solution until you get the commercial stuff?

How can probiotics be on a shelf? They die if not refrigerated? Even the inner health plus capsules are stored in a special fridge at chemists and this powder I picked up today have to stay in the fridge?

By ' a little at a time ' I mean a drop at a time Felix. I would not put the syringe in the beak as it is far too easy to aspirate a chicken. 1/2-1 ml is enough to aspirate a chicken.
Honey water, sugar water is fine for a short time but Appps already has an adequate product. My recommendation of poly aid plus was from personal experience with an anorexic hen that had no desire to eat. Once she got a taste of it she was sucking out of the syringe.
I have also used with newly hatched chick that have appeared too far gone to save.
