Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

The cement sheeting reinforcement keeps it slightly cooler, which is good for summer. It is holding 28 degrees today, with an outside air temp of 12 degrees. Still gets cool at night- lowest recorded so far inside it is 5 degrees.
I am using it to start off winter seedlings, but still have sweet potato and chillis growing in it.

Do you grow a particular type of chilli Ash? My son is right into his chilies the hotter the better so we grow Birds eye, Normal long red, Butch t, Ghost, Habanero and Jalapeno and Thai hot.
Oh and banana Chilli's.. Note son says they are not hot enough so don't count :lau

Howdy folks :frow Thanks MagicPidge, now I know something about quails ;) appps I used to have a pretty good vegie garden but the chicken coops/runs and cat run took up all the spare space I had. I do, however, have my eye on a spot down the side of the house where the gals do not go and I am contemplating putting some raised beds there, similar to Ash. Looks good Ash! Lovely egg basket cwrite. Lols at chicken food coma. So, I mentioned to the girls that I would like to get a picture of everyone striking a pose. All but one were very obliging; Dusty, not so much. I never realised just how much she moves around and how much she eats. I tried dropping things, whistling, talking to her, food distractions, getting Hubby to attract her attention etc but I could not get her to strike a pose .. this is the best I could do with her and as you can see, it was getting late and I had to use a flash. Mental note to self; next time start with Dusty cos it is going to take ALL day! PS. KiKi and Crystal are Silkie X's [5 toes] .. any thoughts on what they may be crossed with? They are coming up for 11 weeks old. [I believe there may have been a Light Sussex in the mix]. Dusty: KiKi: LuLu: Cilla: Crystal: Blondie: I thought this was a nice one of Cilla and Crystal:
Such Pretty pics of your ladies :) I would be with you on the guess. I would say silkie cross.

:lau We are coming to the end of season for most fruits now but the carambola has done so well this season I have probably picked over 200 off both trees so far and there would still be 60 or so left.

when I was young I used to climb both guava and star fruit trees in the summon time and eat them sitting on s tree branch. If you have really ripe guavas you can make a dessert out of them along with some coconut milk brown sugar and tapioca pearl yummmmm

Tried the deep litter method ewwwww it stinks! So I'm taking them off and putting sand back

The problem with the deep litter method is that if you don't have the correct ventilation, your birds are susceptible to upper respiratory issues due to the irritation caused by the rising ammonia from their urates. Oh and it stinks ! :sick
