Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

I'm glad to report that our young girls have had another day in the big coop yard and all gone to bed in the coop by themselves!
I sound like a too proud mama :p
Got a question tho - they are still all huddling in a puppy pile at the back of the coop. When will they be ready for the ladder perch I made?

I've put in some mini perches but their not using them and I don't want to scare them with the big perch if they aren't ready.

They will when theyre ready. My newest 3 girls spent nights huddled for over a month before they climbed up with the others. I think they were about 3 months old when i got them by memory and kept them isolated for more weeks

That's not good news to hear about the flu vax
sad.png

The last time the flu vax failed, my daughter and I (who were given the flu vax) both contracted it (in October actually) and she ended up hospitalised in an isolation ward as she is an asthmatic (she was 2 1/2 at the time ).My husband (who didn't get the flu vax!) ended up taking time off work to look after us both. Hope both you and your husband recover soon. I'm not sure if it has actually hit WA yet.

Yes the flu vax thing was chaos. Apparently a very late strain came in from the Northern Hemisphere, and we had already prepared the 2015 one they thought was appropriate.

When I went to get my flu shot I was actually offered a choice ( that was in mid May - I always have it about then ). And - get this for apples !! ..... I could have the normal ordinary one that had been prepared early in the year ---- or pay $20.00 extra for the updated vaccination ????

I asked why the $20 extra - "government" was all he muttered, and grumbled over his keyboard. ( My GP is very anti Liberal party - but I won't go further on that topic ).

So I opted for the freebie flu shot - the normal one. Although I have to admit I had repeated doses of viral infections this year, ending up as bronchial bacterial infections. Five bouts of it all told. But none of it flu - although I did have aching muscles and a fever with one - those symptoms were short lived.

Been soooo many nasties around this year, all over the place. I do hope all here who have contracted that Influenza B, are well on the road to recovery with rest, and plenty of fluids - and good courses of Extra - Strong Vitamin B's and C's.

Thanks Annie. By the time they realized the virus had mutated and the need for the extra vaccine became obvious , they didn't have the time required to get it listed on PBS. We have a shingles outbreak here and the vaccine is $250 , they recommend that all health workers have it.
