Australia - Six states..and that funny little island.

You need a looooong holiday! !

I have nearly finished the silkies coop. If it would stop raining I could dig the trench around it to add the mortar mix around it. They are approaching 8 weeks and definitely ready for outside! The little D'Uccle is jumping on everyone lol

400

Once the mortar is in I have some golden cane palms to put in that will grow quickly to add shade. The tree that is behind it when it's much bigger will provide shade also.

Now if it will just stop raining!

Your coop is looking great :thumbsup

My exciting news is that it finally rained at the land that rain forgot. :celebrate I am sure we didn't receive the total they did near the coast but my ground is wet and all my gardens so I am super happy. :weee Edited to add just checked the gauge and we had 35mm.. Best for the year so far :celebrate

As I lie here unable to sleep because of the incessant barking of a dog a few doors up, I wonder why that seems acceptable but I can't keep my rooster.

So annoying!

Have often wondered the same. The neighbours complained about our rooster don't seem to mind the yap yap dogs next door. At least I kept my rooster in our yard, he lets the blood y things out to sheet on everybody lawn each day. Grrrrr. (The most ridiculous bit about these yap yaps though was their owner before he had them made life hell for a lady lived at the bottom of the street with a yap yap to the point she took one of his letters to the police)

Thought we had lost Carl. Got up during the night to check and there was silence under the cage blankets. Couldn't bring myself to look. Hubby just checked her and she is sitting in her cage Buck bucking at us but no awful wheeze. Think I will load her, winry and Al into the car though and just take the lot in for a checkup. Can't take anymore of this chickens dying stuff.

appps aaaw gees, I am sorry to read of your latest woes but pleased to hear that Carl is not wheezing today. Packing them all up and taking them for a check up sounds like a good idea. The Vet can also check for worms.

The coop and run is looking great SilkieChickStar

I too laid in bed early this morning, listening to a dog, two doors up, incessantly barking; which she does quite often

We got 110mm and I am pleased to report the coop and run remained dry throughout.

The dying bit is always the worst part of loving and caring for anything or anyone.

appps ..... as though you haven't enough troubles. Now its complaints from neighbour, and his dogs woopsie-ing on others lawns.

I don't know where you live, but many councils ( including our own ) do not tolerate dogs being let loose - they are required to be registered, and if found wandering are picked up by the Ranger, and transported to the shire pound, or if found and taken to a Vet, the vet will check for microchips / identification etc., and advise the owner and/or council or shire.

Not to mention the stealing of dogs these days, for we-don't-want-to-know - what reason. The dogs should be reported to somone in authority, for your sake, and for the dogs' sakes.

I do hope that Carl continues to improve. She has been sick for quite a while now hasn't she ? And it is the best idea - take them all to the vet.

Just a thought - do they scratch around in compost ? .... and could that have anything in it that would be impacting their crops to such a degree. If you do have them digging around in compost, it might be wise to remove ALL the compost and start again with a clean run - top dressing and all taken off.

Hope your troubles disappear very very quickly, and that you get some good, hopeful answers from the Vet.

Cheers .......
