Awwwww...I just can't get over how cute they are. Something that I didn't realize when I ordered them, was that they are French Marans, meaning that they have feathers on their legs, which is just so adorable!
I'll let you know how it goes, thats my slight concern as well.Awwwww....those feathered feet ones are interesting but I hesitate to get them as I'm worried it'll be really messy when it rains.
Oh they're beautiful...what breed are they ? Are they good layers? One of the hens at my house has heavily feathered feet and another one has lightly feather feet.
There have never been any problems, but we live on very sandy soil. Clay would be a different matter.

They're both bitsas.
To my way of thinking, they're excellent layers. 3-4 eggs each week per hen, except when moulting or broody.
And the blue hen lays blue eggs. So there's some Araucana in there somewhere.
Its a pity that we aren't closer together.....
In the moment there's 1 light sussex, 2 coronation sussex, 1 speckled sussex (who is brooding at the base of a tree, because she ran away!) and 2 BOs. Another LS and another CS have already raised broods this year. Those two, a RIR, RIR x and a Cuckoo Orpington (who lays about one a egg a week) are all that are laying for me![]()
