I learnt that fairly recently too! I was pretty surprised, it's seemed like such a "normal" thingHi Aussies! Guess what? I only just learned that doing the Nutbush dance is an Aussie thing. Until 5 minutes ago, I thought it was done everywhere! What the heck...
I thought it was an American cultural import like sitcoms, cartoons and all that stuff.I learnt that fairly recently too! I was pretty surprised, it's seemed like such a "normal" thing![]()
Isn’t that a Tina Turner thing?Hi Aussies! Guess what? I only just learned that doing the Nutbush dance is an Aussie thing. Until 5 minutes ago, I thought it was done everywhere! What the heck...
Turns out, no. She never danced it. We do it to her song but (little did I know) the dance was invented in New South Wales back in the 70s for primary school kids and it spread across Australia. We learn the steps when we're kids and if the song comes on, we all line up and start dancing. There are loads of videos with people doing the nutbush dance at weddings.Isn’t that a Tina Turner thing?
I've heard of this but never seen it danced & never done it myself. I'd already left school when it became a thing.Turns out, no. She never danced it. Wow, that's not my experience at all. Even the older people in my family will get up and dance for this one. Come to think of it, I guess they must've learned it in their 20s and 30s.I've heard of this but never seen it danced & never done it myself. I'd already left school when it became a thing.
Yes, I knew it was Aussie ~I just couldn't figure out how because, like I said, I don't know anyone who does this.Wow, that's not my experience at all. Even the older people in my family will get up and dance for this one. Come to think of it, I guess they must've learned it in their 20s and 30s.
Did you know it was an Australian dance? I'm still blown away that it's not an American thing.
