I used to drive by a place where a border collie would hide in the ditch and chase cars that passed. I always felt bad for it because it apparently needed a job. It was a dairy farm, so not sure if it was used for herding or not.

Yes i know of a dog who use to do this to. Not used on a farm either. They just left it outside and it jumped out of the ditch at the vehicles.

I am bothered by the changing of breeds to. Nothing wrojg with mixed breeds but purposely breeding Some together like doodles makes me mad. Some are purposely bred like for service work.

Mini aussies were probably crossed with another breed to create a "mini"
A prefer standards in every breed.
Just was saying there is a registered term for them.

Back in the 70s, when I was first around Aussies in CO, many would have been classed as minis. The ranch i remember was called "Hanging Tree", I think. A lot of them would have been no more than 35#.

Imagine my surprise when I got back from Germany in Dec 92 & standards were 50 - 60 #.

Then, when I purchased a pair of "minis" in 2005, both went over mini heights. Harli's last weight, not overweight for his frame, was 56#. BIG, neutered boy! Come to find out, their sire, "listed" as a small standard, was quite a bit larger then I'd originally been told & the breeder had on their website. I was informed that they "could" go over height, but I could have spent substantially less & gotten a standard Aussie right here in NC.

Also remember dogs from Las Rocosa/Hartnagle lines. Looks like they were the ones in CO and still appear to be.

As a teen & young adult in CO, these dogs were often helping at rodeos, cutting & team penning events & clinics. I dreamed of having one, but had "no need" as we didn't have livestock other than a handful of horses on our 5 acres.

Does anyone else have an Aussie that sneezes/snorts when excited?
My neighbors have one, and he sneezes, and I have a lab/aussie mix and he sneezes too. They are so weird
