I'm down in Gippsland - how's all this foul wintery weather?

Bit chilly, but not too bad, I haven't turned the heater on yet lol. I haven't been through a winter with my chooks yet, is there anything I should do, their coop isn't very warm, it's an old tin shed and one door is missing, lol sounds terrible I know but I've put a few blankets up on the gap, when I can get my dad to come around I'm going to get him to fix it properly

Don't know? Ours in one of those wooden ones you see everywhere (lol) and they all huddle up together in a nest book - literally four chickens (some are young - 8 weeks youngest) - in one box - and they are fine. If they're bought locally I imagine they'd be fine. Our chickens are in similar housing to what they lived in previously and are pretty well insulated in theres. I was quite surprised at how reasonable they were to buy, plus extensions are easy to build.

Hi everyone, not sure how I've missed this thread until now.
I'm on the Morn Pen in Vic and have a small backyard flock of 5 hens and 3 (hopefully) pullets.
We've got a mixture of breeds, including 2 x Welsummers, 1 x White Orp, 1 x Silver Laced Wynadotte, 1 x Araucana, 1 X RIR, 1 x Silver Spangled Hamburg and 1 X Barnevelder.
Can't wait until they all start laying again!

Go to learning center then go to the my chickens articles, then scroll down to the one that says Pew Pew.

Or click on the one in my signature and there is a link in blue above all the pictures, that take you to the article.

Hi from Brisbane. Does anyone know where I could get my baby Barnevelders vaccinated. I have nearly given up and this may be my last try. It is so hard for backyarders. They are coming out of their shells under mum as I type.

Barnevelders? I would love one! I am in Brisbane too. How can I get hold of on e of hem?
