Australorp pullet or roo?

That's a cockerel
And I'd say he's younger than 9weeks
Probably 2-3weeks of age
At 9 wks our first 5 were fully black feathered and the roo had his voice and notes, same with the 2nd hatch. 4 hen birds that are now 2 days shy of 8 weeks. Full feather and all black.

I also agree that this chick is not 9 weeks old. Even my roosters are fully feathered by 5 weeks. I would say cockerel based on it being a younger age and the comb and wattles being so large and red.

Ok, i never thought of that but it might be a little warm as a have mixed aged so still have a heat source available to them. Thank you
My assessment was based on the stated age being 9 weeks.

Looking again and seeing why folks think the chick is younger than that.. would probably change my thoughts also! I also would expect a 9 week old juvenile to be FULLY feathered.

Looks like our roos did at 4ish weeks old. Even with head fluff and size, I was wondering what I was feeding ours, our 7 week old BA girls don't fit in our hands haha
