Not splash. They usually lose all of the white feathers by the final Juvenal molt at about 18 weeks old. Sometimes there will be one or two feathers with a bit of white though.
Here's my 6 2 week old black Australorps. Several have white wing feathers coming in along with blacks. Does this mean they're going to have Splash coloration? At least now they're starting to look a bit different where I can recognize individuals. THese are TSC Bin Black Australorps
Splash chicks look almost all white and then develop their blue splotches as they grow. My birds that I posted pics of right above yours started out looking exactly like yours. It's normal for them to start out with some white. Some of them still have a teeny bit of white on their faces and underbellies, but most are all black now, at 5 weeks old. Here's my 6 2 week old black Australorps. Hi all, I have a question ...do chicks outgrow their "biting" like puppies do, or once a biter always a biter??
My 3.5week old Australorp, has a very calm disposition, it (can't tell sex yet) does come close and climb up on my hand, it seems very lovey, and relaxed....until it bites!... and It doesn't just peck at my hand like the rest of the chicks do, it pinches the skin and then gives it a twist, not hard enough to break the skin, but should I be concerned it might do just that as it grows older and stronger?
Oh I hope you're wrong, I can't keep a rooster!LOL! Sounds like it's probably a cockerel. At least of my chicks only the cockerels do that. They still peck at my fingers a bit now, but don't bite anymore.
