Australorps breed Thread

I have 10 of the Gilbert Cockerels. They are 18 weeks old today. Here are pics of a couple. My favorite I never could get him to hold still unless his tail end was pointed at the camera, maybe next time.

There has been a black feather storm this week so they look a little tattered. One thing for sure they are changing from week to week and so does my favorite. I plan on whittling down to 3 over the next couple of months. Feel free to critique.

Pictures of the Black Australorp Condo coming within 2 weeks.

Here are my two BAs they are my favorites in my flock of 13 assorted chicks I get at the feed store this past spring! One is laying daily (they are 22 weeks) and the other is so friendly!!

I have 3 Black Australorps 2 cockerels and1 hen. One of the cockerels and the hen are solid black. The cockerel in the picture has a lot of copper in his hackle feathers ans along his sides. is this common in Black Australorps?

Australorps do not have red in the neck or feathers. Marans do. What do the feet look like?

She is very cute!  Interesting to me that she has the same slight webbing between the toes that my hatchery BA's have. I see she also has the white tipped feather mine had that age also. Mine are now 17 weeks and have lost all the white tipped feathers. I love handling them so I can feel how soft their feathers are. I really just can't get over it. Unfortunate my Peppa is a pecker so I pick her up almost everyday teaching her not to peck me. She is slowly learning but she has a very strong will. She even gives my old hen a bad time frequently too. So far those two work it out one way or another on a given day.

She is the most friendly out of my 4 hens, she runs right up to me!

Hagar3,
Your bird is either a black copper maran or a mix of somekind like ron said. Marans usually have slate color feather legs, but not always. My best guess is a mix in the past which will continue to crop up if you breed him.

I have attached pictures of his feet. All 3 birds feet look alike. The other rooster could be his twin except for the red hackle feathers on his neck and flanks. Both of the other chickens are pure black with beetle green highlights.
