Shellie, You can learn a lot here. There are many dedicated breeders and novice chicken folk that frequent this thread.

Glad you found us !!! I live north of KC and have was lucky enough to get two pullets out of ten in last April's order from Mr. Urch. I have joined the Easter-Hatch-along and will try for more.

I got some BAs from Murray McMurry last April. Very happy with them. They are not show birds but they are great layers. Very friendly, good lookings, nice green sheen in their feathers. Faces look like they should and feet and legs do also. If you want show quality, I would cancel my order and find a good breeder.

I wonder if McMurry got some new Australorps. Sometimes places do try to improve their stock, even Hatcheries. Do you have pictures?

Yes, lots of baby pics plz (love the pic of the 13) and do tell where your babies came from! Great folks on here with loads of experience and newbies (like me) looking to learn all about the wonder Autstralorp and chicken keeping in general. I have one Aussie teenager roo and a few young ladies of different breeds BUT I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of new baby girl Aussies in April.

I get them from my fellow a few villages away from me.

I put water, feed and yolk of hard boiled egg to them. They almost fight for it.

I suggest you add plain yogurt to the hard boiled egg and feed mixture. It has probiotic that is good for digestion.
