Australorps breed Thread

I was wondering about that myself.  I currently have 2 Aussie juveniles and 3 juvenile English Orpingtons with my grown Australorps.  Once my hens regrow feathers from molting, I'm putting the juvenile Aussie cockerel with my younger Aussie pullets.  He is 3 1/2 months and they are 7 weeks old.  I'm assuming they will get along fine.

When I brought mine home I mixed 5 week olds, 8 week olds, and a 1 1/2 year old rooster and they all did great. Maybe I got lucky, but they all rode home together from two neighboring farms and we never had a problem.

New territory, neutral ground with a fresh pecking order instead of trying to keep one's power, everyone was evenly matched.

That's what I had figured and I thought would be the best way to do it. I got lucky in that these two farms are neighbors and friends with lots of traveling between them, so I didn't have to worry about mixing them up. I don't look forward to integrating new ones, though I agree that mixing young ones has got to be easiest.

They look like Boys to me too
That is what I call the teen stage ..when they are almost full grown but not quite .

I got my camera back out, so I can use zoom and stop freaking them out with the noise my phone camera makes. Maybe I'll get better pictures. I want some good ones just to have anyhow. Thanks btw!

when they do it too ..it wont sound like a crow either ... more like they are gargling or being strangled

Lol Too funny. Well, whether they are or aren't, chances are I'll hear it eventually. I just came from a swap where we bought 7 more chicks! But I do hope at least one of my BAs is a pullet.

I spy....hackle feathers! Daggone. On just one though, the one that doesn't have sickle looking tail feathers. Go figure.
