Australorps breed Thread

oh my I could imagine the looks you'll get walking chickens on a leash. with any adult animal foreign things like collars and harness can really freAk them out. It's best to start leash training babies but honesty puting it on once they are in the dark and sleepy then actually letting then fall back to sleep and awake with it on is very affective (I've leash trained many animals...but no chickens.Turk is right about it being dangerous but with proper care you could try it.You just need to confine her to small safe sleeping quarters(like a dog crate) and place it where you can hear and come to her rescue through the night.A head light with a low red setting would be helpful other wise you will need to be in the dark. You would need to hold her wings gently till she settled before you attempted to step away.I doubt someone who thinks enough of a chicken to walk it on leash would just toss it on a perch flailing
Use a rabbit harness-- it should be closer to the correct size.

OK. Well yeah, I was just thinking that my coop has absolutely nothing for the harness to hook on and I check on them often.
Do you think it'd be OK? She's not afraid of it. She just is mad when you put it on her.
