I'll bet you the 82g is a double yoker. Great to eat but not to hatch. Both chicks have never developed for me. I don't breed her but I like eating her eggs.

One of my Aussie pullets did the same thing! Started laying very nice sized eggs, and then after two or three weeks presented us with a oversized egg similar to yours. It was a double yoke masterpiece which I ate for breakfast a few days later. Funny how you had nearly identical experience with yours.

Hi MB. She certainly is a lovely looking BA hen. Curious which hatchery you got her from if you don't mind sharing? Please do share future pics of your BA's. Would enjoy seeing them very much. ~Dee~
I bought 6 BA chicks from TSC two years ago and I'm in love with them.
I bought them for egg laying but was surprised to learn how friendly they are and what good broody moms they can be.
I wish more people bred these birds!
Here's a pic of one of my hens (the smallest hen) raising about 12 guinea babies.

I can only talk about the two I got from Ideal Poultry June 15th so I can't give as much info as those who have had them for years.
- They are relatively quiet, lovely green sheen in the sunlight and very soft. And no I don't spend a lot of time petting them, my daughter mentioned it. The Faverolles look like they should be soft but are not particularly.
- They don't push any of the other girls around even though Zorra is bigger than all of the other 11 (check the sig).
- Presumed to be excellent layers though I don't know for how many years. Echo started first on 11/26 and has laid, on average, 4.25 eggs per week. Zorra started on 1/3 and other than 1/4 has not missed a day yet! Avg 6.61/week. Of course I do not expect this rate to keep up. Echo lays a shiny medium brown egg, ranging from 52 to 58 grams so large Medium or small Large. Zorra's eggs are a couple of shades lighter and matte. She ranges 60-62 (so solidly Large) except for that massive 82 g egg 3 days ago. And yes it was a double yolk. My daughter had a one and a half egg omelette from that single egg.
