Thank you Dee. I just got ANOTHER egg! I am soooo excited BUT it wasn't from the Aussies which surprised me a bit. It's from the RIR's I saw her coming out of the nest.

That is wonderful!

I got an egg from each of my girls yesterday which has only occurred twice so far. As you may know the two BA's being young just started recently and my BR 3+ yr old hen is not consistent anymore. Anyway, it is a lot of fun finding eggs so I do enjoy it when folks here share their good fortune too. Which reminds me that Bella was on the nest a couple of hours ago so I'd better get out there. It has been very wet over the weekend and so far this week so I have been less inclined to stay out very long.

LOL mine is eating wild persimmons these days. You should see them, one will find them one and take off with it, and here the others come trying to get it. I have a tree behind their coop with them on it. I got on the ladder this evening and knocked a bunch down for them to eat.
alright so you're getting some from each of yours. I'd have 15 if all mine laid at one time. Yes it is a lot of fun finding them. Seems like I have been waiting for forever. ;-)
oh dear sure hope the rain stops so they can get on out there. I've had mine shut up a lot for the past few days since i have a stray dog wanting to hang around here. He's sleeping in our shed at night from the looks of things.

Real nice P, how old is she? I really like the fact that there is no cushion infront of the tail. The body type is spot on!

She is 7 months old. As far as the cushion..I have steered clear of lines that have Orpingtons crossed in as it makes them have cushion and to much fluff in the back. At the Crossroads show a couple of years ago you couldn't really tell the difference between the Black Orps and the Australorps. Most lines have English Orp crossed in them at this point which totally changes the look. An Australorp has the same description for type in the Standard as a New Hampshire other than color and that is how I breed them.

Great information on what to breed for! They should look like BAs and not Orpingtons.
