I want to hear the update when you crack that one open!

Yeah Kurt! I thought I had some big eggs, including a 3 oz from my little White Leghorn I hatched, but that egg you got is unreal!! Update when you crack it!

OK, The eggtopsy is in. There were two fully formed eggs. The totally formed egg inside was half the size of the outside with yoke and all. The outside egg also had a yoke and the white, only less. How she did not become egg bound is the mystery with a 148 gram egg coming out of her.

That is amazing!

Is her vent ok? No Prolapse?

Make sure she gets some Black oil Sunflower Seeds--helps provide lubrication for egg laying.

oh my goodness bless her heart! I bet she did some cackling. :( Poor thing! I got a double yolker but am glad that was the only one. I think that one is the one that is laying the larger eggs though. The rest of the eggs are pretty small ones so far.

This is our little buddy we call him blue. Im pretty sure this is a australorp but he was a free chick from a hatchery so not really positive. He is pretty aggressive lol. But he has beautiful hues of blue/teal and purples in his feathers.

This is one of his chicks either mixed with a buff brahma or a sexlink.

more of his chicks with a sexlink hen.

He looks more like a Black Penedesenca--white over the ear lobe and look at that comb!

Can you take a picture of the back of the comb?

My thoughts too Ron!

Dan
Black Penedesencas are rare too.

The back of the comb for a Penedesenca looks like:

It is a king comb or coronation comb. Notice the three points at the back-- like a crown.

This is Brand, my Partridge Penedesenca cockerel.
