Australorps breed Thread

I'm new to this breed. We have many others. My pullet came out of the pullet bin however out of ALL the pullets I have had in the past. I never have had one with such a big comb so early! Is this normal for this breed. She is about 3-4 weeks. sorry about the two pics
It's too soon to tell but the chick looks like a pullet so far.

Post again in two weeks.

Hi! I haven't posted pics of my Australorp (Sweetie) in a long time here and just wanted to post some today!
Sweetie is 15 weeks and one day today! You may remember her when I posted pics of her as a chick. Here she is as a baby!

These are some pics I took of her today!! She's looking so pretty!

What a sweetie!

Well, we culled our 2 Australorps with pendulous crops. My husband gallantly offered to do the deed himself but it's not my first rodeo. I guess it's just easier to make the decision when the animal is elderly.

Pardon my asking, but what is a pendulous crop?
Crop blockage that is not "fixed" soon enough will stretch out the crop.

It is not usually genetic and is often a symptom not a cause. Often it is from a fungal infection that stops the crop from emptying. Other times it can be from eating stuff that requires grit to grind up. It can be from eating long grass and etc. too.
