Australorps breed Thread

How old are they?

[T]They were born about May 12. Almost 7 months. Very friendly and responsive to affection. One I named Pearl insists I pick her up in the morning and carry her with me while I check the yard. Of course the other birds get mad. Love these little ones.[/B]

Ok then I have no idea. My pullets hatched May 13 and all of them have red ears. White ears is usually a sign of 2 things. First is a white egg laying hen which the Australorp is a brown egg layer. Or when a hen is too old and stops laying the color in the face along with the comb and wattle fade and go closer to a white the a bright red. The process is called bleaching. Learned that at one of the poultry shows I was a part of. But 7 months they should be laying so it's not bleaching and Australorps are brown egg layers so I don't have an idea.

Sounds like they could have a little mixed parentage.

Yes they have been mixed with another breed ...or they are another breed .

Australorps have red combs, red wattles, red ears , Red necks under their feathers , slate gray legs feet, and pinkish white soles, not yellow. Do they have this ?

Penedesencas have white ear lobes and lay dark brown eggs.

Do the combs have sprigs on the back?
