Yep. I sell my Indian Blue peacock feathers for $1 each. Other people I've seen try to sell and Indian Blue peacock feather for $2-$5 each and being worse quality than mine.Oooh, people BUY the feathers? Welp, I guess they would. That's pretty neat. Still not for me. Pretty but ... I'll stick with chickens. And no, I've never tasted a duck egg ... I'm so forlorn!

thanks Kurt , I couldnt remember the name..Hey did you get Duncan from him ?
Peafowl is the proper term when referring to both sexes like chicken. Mine only call during breeding season when they first see sun and right before the sun goes down.
They are not as noisy when in pens. My rooster calls more often then my peafowl. There were peafowl at the college I went to in So. Cal. In breeding season the cocks would be on the roofs of the 4 story dorms screaming their lungs out. VERY loud and ANNOYING!
Good to know! Don't think I'll be getting any but it seems like the cocks pay for their keep with the sale of feathers (ignoring the cost of building housing).
Also you have 3 years before they molt any of there train feathers if you start off with little chicks. The price I have my feathers at and the quantity they pay off their expenses except for housing by their first train set. Then the next train pays for everything. My Indian Blue male is now making me profit. My White will molt his first train set in 2017. He should grow in his first train set around September 2016 is hopefully when his adult train will come in. Some day I hope to own a large enough farm so I can own 14 different kinds of peafowl and have 9 peafowl for each kind. That's 126 peafowl.
