oh no, its very easily diagnosed..my 16 year old was diagnosed...he had no special testing or anything. it was insane because he shows no sign of it at all. hes just defiant.
Maybe to some idiots, but I have seen way more cases of kids with autism NOT getting the dx because their parent's don't want that label on their children when they are obviously on the spectrum.

My older son was diagnose haveing adhd as he wouldn't stay still for the hour long waits in the waiting room when his younger brother needed appointments 2-3 times a week for uncontrolled asthma for the first 2 years. Any kid would get bored waiting for the dr to show up while he over book by 4 people per appointment slot!
autism has been linked to mercury in vaccines there is a lot of research on that and pesticides are connected with cancer such as prostate ie copper sulfate which is one of the reasons why it is so common now.
maybe i am an idiot, i dont know..but what i do know is that the "spectrum" is such a catch all phrase and unfortunately, a lot of kids are being misdiagnosed. give it time, and you will see less and less children diagnosed with autism/aspergers and the like.

The word spectrum started being used because there are different levels (spectrums) of Autism and Aspergers. Most Aspergers people can function with society, but there are certain spectrums of that disorder that sets them apart. Austistic people settle inside themselves and it takes intense work to get them "out". Aspergers people are usually quite vocal, often show violent tendancies, and are OCD. Some to an extreme. My boss's son is Aspergers at the extreme end of things, and has been obsessed with the fact that he is part native American. He absolutely MUST attend every pow-wow that he can possibly get to or it leads to a major melt down. None of his own control either. He also has higher end violent tendancies. Besides that, he is a very likeable young man, and handsome to boot.
Not sure what my comments have to do with the title of this thread, but my two cents nonetheless.
It is amazing how beautiful Aspbergers is... Really... My boy is soooo handsome... It is childlike... and much more fleshy faces... The violence comes from the inability of the brain to make sudden changes and the fact that the change in program is sooooo very hard on a brain that is already working overtime... High functioning autism has some really nice high points to compensate for the deficits... It is an "understanding" of the deficits that drives the "violent tendencies" underground.... They are not Violent persay, but have a NEED to have a rigidity to their thinking... Again Tony Attwood is the leading expert today in the Aspberger realm.... Anyone who is interested in this topic can benefit from what he has discovered about this condition.
