I've gotta find a way to open my coop automatically in the mornings. This getting up at 5a thing isn't my cop of tea!

Offer to buy the materials and find a high school near you that participates in the FIRST robotics program. They'd probably be happy to practice problem solving and building.

Of course, your BF is pretty handy...but seeing as how it took you until nearly spring to get working heat...the high school may be a better bet.
