Autopsy of a little chick. Autopsy pictures caution. Please help!

Hi again @Ramouila , I know that Israel has sophisticated veterinary diagnostic labs that could help you. I don’t know the costs or geography, but why don’t you try calling or emailing them to see what they can do for you? A quick google search found the following, but I’m sure I’m missing a comprehensive list:
https://www.moag.gov.il/en/Ministry...search and Diagnostic Labs/Pages/default.aspx

In the meantime, I think the suggestions to try limiting any infectious disease that they might be picking up from your substrate are a great idea. Paper towels changed daily, disinfection of the brooder, cleaning of any dirty rear ends daily, provision of electrolytes and or vitamins (do you have something like Nutridrench?) might save your remaining chicks... Since coccidiosis doesn’t always present with bloody stool, you might try treating for coccidiosis as well, going with the “treat for the treatable” philosophy. Do you have amprolium readily available there? If you go that route, you’ll need to discontinue the vitamins during treatment but you can still give electrolytes. Again, I hope that you are able to save your remaining chicks! Even if not, you will want to know what’s going in so you can protect your next batch of chicks...

Exactly what I was thinking.

Good eye!

@Ramouila, so sorry you're going through this. :hugs
If these were my chicks I would:
  1. .Get them off of the sand and on towels and change the towels out at least once a day. I say this because it's possible they are ingesting too much sand, which you can confirm by slicing open the gizzard.
  2. Inspect each one and remove poop from butts.
  3. Use heat lamps in the brooder.

  4. Start coccidiosis treatment with amprolium, a sulfa drug, or toltrazuril.
@Akrnaf2 is in Isreal, maybe he can offer some advice.

I thought that since you live in Isreal that you could help the OP find a diagnostic lab or make some recommendations on how to treat their chicks.

I use desert sand, and never had any problems with it.

That's the same temperature for all groups, about 88 F degrees. Look how the elders pull together "the sick ones". I have to keep them very hot otherwise they strangle each other. No matter what I do, they stay weak and do not gain weight.
