Avocados For Chickens

I am planning on getting chickens, but i have an avocado tree in my back yard so i was wondering if i could train them not to eat it or if it is really not that poisonous. Or if there was some way of deterring them from eating it.

Avocados are highly toxic to birds. Leaves are actually the most toxic part. If you get chickens you should make sure they have no access to the tree, its fruit, and its leaves.

I learned this the hard way...
I gave my dearly beloved ducks Pat and Don a whole avocado ( nut and all ) thinking it was an innocent treat. The both died when I check on them the next day... so my advice to all of you is to NEVER feed your chickens avocado!!

Yes they can eat avocados but make sure u peel correctly and remove the pit became peels & pit are toxic to Chickesm my chooks don't like avocados much don't know why lol

Very sad to hear I'm really worried what I give to my chickens so the day I have them I downloaded a list from google avacado fruit is non toxic the pit & peel contains toxic can kill in hours both ducks & chickens
Also potatoes peels especially those green ones

I wouldn’t risk it.
It’s not just toxic to birds but also other animals like dogs and cats.
If you can fence all the way around it with chicken wire so the leaves don’t poke out that might work.

Yes don't let them come near to avocados when u brought to home keep away and throw their peels and pits in dustbin

Yep, toxic to all birds pretty much, and even other mammals.
