AYAM CEMANI - BREEDING & DISCUSSION.

IMO, there's no such thing as a perfect bird in any variety of any breed, thus the reason for illustrations used in the SOP book... ;)

Just was curious, have seen some get pure white feathered birds, just not with other color as well...

Though there was a string of bad scammers a while back...
Perfect in the sense that they are all black, have sweeping arched tails, 5-7 point crowns, not too big, not too small, produce good offspring (except and occasional white chick). I have seen the SOP and these are very close. I have seen photos of other people's Cemani's and the two guys I use as breeders are far and away superior.

I am fairly new to BYC. How long have you been raising Cemani?

Yep, even when you get a really nice bird, you can always look at it and find things that could be better. I definitely still do, even after three years of work. There is always, always room for improvement. And that goes for any breed.

That a good way to look at things. Always trying to make it better.

Say what? Wow...

That's how every good breeder should look at things :) Never thinking they're done, always looking to improve their birds.

Wow in the sense that I have good birds that are hard to find or wow in the sense that I said my birds look superior to others I have seen? I don't know you so I don't know what you mean.

I don't think I've actually seen pictures of your birds, would you mind posting some? We all love to see well bred, nice birds :) Also gives others a chance to see what we're shooting for, breeding wise. And if you want, we could give you pointers on what to improve on for the next generation, since like I said, it's always good to look at what can be improved going forward :) How long have you been working with ACs? I know you joined BYC earlier this year but it sounds like you've been working with them for awhile?

Speaking of pictures, I've gotta try to grab some of my current breeding cock. Haven't actually managed to get a good picture of him yet, since he used to be pretty skittish.

I will post photos as soon as I can. I am still working right now and then have to go out most of the night, but will get to it soon. The small thumbnail picture I have by each of my posts is one of my birds. I appreciate the opportunity to improve them in any way I can and receive pointers. I have been working with Cemani for a couple years and would love to learn as much as possible. I hope I did not offend that other guy. Nothing bad was meant in any way shape matter or form. I did not say that about my birds compared to others on this site, just others I have seen in the past with stubby little tails, or floppy combs, or just nasty looking combs. Did not mean to impugn anybody's birds on this site. I don't know any of you yet.
