In the South you can say anything you want about a person as long as you say "Lord help her" or "bless her heart" with it.

I saw a young family in the store a couple years ago and both the mom and the son, about 4 years old, was calling the dad "Hun". It was just too funny so I had to ask the dad "...as in Attilla?"

I actually wouldn't mind a guy that I was involved with calling me Babe. No boyfriend or husband has ever called me that, I kinda like it. A stranger, friend or acquaintance on the other hand, no way!

What I REALLY hate is when young cashiers call me "Hon". I could be their mother, and find it totally disrespectful to call me Hon. On the other hand, I also hate being called Ma'am too, because that makes me feel old. How about calling me "Have a nice day". That seems appropriate enough, lol.

I figure that if a guy calls the girl Babe or the girl calls the guy Babe that just means they forgot what their real name is. I have done a lot of work with couples in trouble and the one thing that seems to hold true is the more one mate calls the other Babe, the more likely they are to be cheating on their mate. If they call everybody Babe then there is less chance they will screw up and call one by the others name.

I LOVE IT when someone calls me Hun, Honey, or Babe whether it's a special or close friend or a cashier at Walmart. I do realize that some people don't like it so I usually don't call people Babe even though I'd like to.

I see your logic here and agree that sometimes players are more prone to use "Babe" or other names but I also see it going the other way too. Most successful relationships I know include pet names.
