Baby chick broken leg

I have some old antiseptic ointment. I was going to try to put the bone back and splint it is this a good idea
Antiseptic- definitely.

But otherwise , it totally Your choice. If you go that route. Please photograph in good lighting (not a brooder lamp) from all angles first, so you don’t have to disturb it in the morning.
Generally if a fractured bone is splinted, after the splint is applied, it’s best to leave it alone for a period of time before unwrapping it.

I’m afraid if you splint it tonight, by the time we have a chance to “see” it it might be too far gone.
In my opinion There is no sense in causing unnecessary pain to this little one. Maybe you could just immobilize the fracture exactly the way it is overnight and let it rest.

By immobilize what do you mean

Leg bottom leg is flopping in different directions
Okay then create a “soft splint” until morning.
Gently straighten, slather up in antiseptic ointment, wrap in gauze or toilet tissue , paper towel or a bit of an old (clean) T-shirt if you have nothing else, tape or bandaid in place gently. Tight enough to stay on, but Not too tight.
