Baby chick thats very weak

Hey I have a baby chick that is about 18 hours old that my Mama hen rejected while it was trying to hatch so of course once it was completely hatched I removed it from the nesting box and brought it inside. He/she chirps and can now stand up but ever few minutes he/she falls over asleep is this normal for a chick of this age?

Does the mama have other chicks under her? You may be able to slip this one in with her and let nature take its course.

Or, make sure it has warmth, a nice dry bed and provide chick feed and water (you could even add some electrolyte type product like Sav-A-Chick). The yolk should sustain it for about 48 hours I think, so if it doesn't eat straight away, I wouldn't worry. Hatching is a grueling business and sometimes the chicks just need a rest.

If this chick doesn't make it, don't be too hard on yourself. Sometimes they're just weak or maybe had an issue that we couldn't see. But I hope the little cutie pulls through for you!
