Baby Chicks Arrived!

Well, cockerels...

?? Cockerels ?? as far as I know, we don't have any young boys! Sir Rudy is our big full grown rooster. I don't really know his age, but he seemed big when he was thrown over the fence.

Picture of the rest of our small flock.

Our (not) babies are 16 weeks old today. Gracey's comb and waddles are so much bigger than Little Bits..

Gracey 16 Wks. Shoot! I didn't weigh them again. Maybe tomorrow...

Little Bit - 16 Weeks. Just FYI, they don't really like being held, and Buffey especially... I didn't feel like chasing her, so she didn't get her picture taken today.

It is amazing how certain birds end up developing quicker than others. I have 17 pullets that are all the same age and they are all varied in their development. I have some that look ready to lay and others that look like they need 4 more weeks. OY! Looking good though!

I don't do Cream Legbars, so wasn't thinking about pullet colors. I thought about the bigger comb and wattles, and thought I saw pointed hackle feathers.
I'm happy to be wrong, it's supposed to be a pullet.

Oh I am no expert! I was hoping you would educate me! I think at this age they are coming into lay and it’s normal to start developing the comb and wattles. I’ll look again and see if I see hackle feathers.

What have I done!! We have babies in the PlayPen again! That was not really the plan...

Rudy, Rosie and Tina have new homes and I used the money to buy babies!?!? I drove a LONG way to buy a Cream Legbar BOY for our young ladies! Also bought a 55 Flowery Hen.
