baby duck with lots of problems

My two Khakis each lay an egg overnight in the stall they sleep in. Do they build a nice nest in the straw? NO!!!!! They somehow manage to get between two wall studs that are behind the chicken scratch can and the feed can to lay their eggs. The opening is just barely 2 inches. How they get their fat little bodies in and out of that I have not a clue.

Better prepare yourself. Ducks will lay when and where they choose. I have actually seen a duck walking across the yard and plop, there is an egg and she did not miss a step. The will also lay in the most out of reach and out of the way places, especially if they discover it is you taking their eggs. So, be prepared to crawl, scoop, roll, reach and anything else to gather those eggs. Around here every day is an egg hunt.

That is the truth. You very seldom find them out in the open on occassion I do. I hold it up and say thank you. Sherry is my consistent egg layer who lays in the same spot. Bless her little heart but still I have to bend over and reach under the little bush. I hope my neighbor across the street knows I'm gathering eggs.

I really think they do it on purpose too.

A better question is, how? xD I wish JT would set up a security camera in there so we can try to capture it, LOL! I have a mental image of these ducks twisting this way and that, hitting yoga positions, standing on tippy-toes just to lay an egg in there and run off giggling "they'll never suspect!"

After years of raising chickens we got our first green egg.  Miss Muffin was in the nesting box this morning putting little twigs of straw on her back.  She's an Easter Egger so I was anxious to see what color egg she was laying.  I think I'll blow it out and keep it.
The ducks are  having kind of a lazy day today.  All of them are laying around enjoying the shade.  I guess after working all week catching bugs and chomping down the grass they are taking a day off.  Que Sera didn't even talk my head off when I went to feed them.  Maybe she has laringidious.  That would make everybody happy in the flock.  Uno still is sporting his purple vet wrap I hope this helps the little guy.

I found a nest in the back yard it had about 12 eggs in it.  I know I checked there two days ago.  The whole flock must be laying in that one spot except for Sherry she has a little bush that she lays under  in the front yard. I'm surprised I didn't have a broody trying to hatch all those eggs. Everytime I find their spot to where they lay their eggs they switch locations.  They play the easter bunny game of hiding their eggs all the time. We do have a wild rabbit that stays around here and maybe he is hiding the eggs.  :/  Ducks are smart but maybe the rabbit is smarter.

p.s. hope everyone has a nice day.

I never knew what anyone was talking about when you said EE's but now I do! I never knew this was a type of chicken and after doing some research I really want some. I thought you were crazy talking about easter chickens and green eggs! I learn something new every day on this site

I have EEs that lay a beautiful blue egg. Olive eggers lay a green one too. They also come in batam size.

I am crazy but yes the easter egger chickens lay, blue, green and I think a tan color. I still have 2 more easter eggers to start to lay so I might get a blue egg who knows. They are friendly chickens and some of them have the muffs on the sides of their faces. I would reccomend them to anyone.
