Hugs to everyone on Byc and thank you for the hugs I need them this morning.

Dottie my coo coo maran died sometime last night. She wasn't sick she was eatting with Coach yesterday morning. Her and Coach were always hanging out togeather in the coop. She was the head hen in the coop. I will miss her and I feel so sorry for Coach,

Then if that wasn't bad enough I was pulling the water hose trying to fill up one of the pools and the hose gave and I went down butt first in the rose bush.

It broke my fall but that might be the end of the rose bush. I didn't get stuck by the thorns thank goodness. I used the fence post to pull myself up. I'm fine just embarrassed the heck out of me. I don't think anyone seen me.

Yes I forgot the chickens saw me. They had this look on their faces like why are you sitting in the rose bush?

I hope everyone has a nice day and hugs a chicken or duck or a finch duck.

Patty
I am so sorry Patty, We just never know they hide things so well. Poor Coach hopefully eventually she'll have another buddy.

as for the rose bush thank goodness a thorn didn't get you that would be some kind of embarrassing going to emergency room try to explain that one. Glad your okay though .

A big hug to you Patty. I am very sorry Dottie died. I hope Coach makes out ok. Can you hold him and talk to him?

Ditto what Patti said. I am glad all you got from that rose bush were some odd looks from your birds.

I brought Coach inside and held him and talked to him. He's walking around the house now. I may let him stay all night tonight. I've got an empty laundry basket he can sleep in.

We had another hawk in the yard. Bubba and Skiddles the hen were doing the hawk alert. When I went outside he flew to a neighbors tree and sit there about twenty minutes. I kept walking around the yard and he finally few off. Usually fall is the worst time for hawks in our area. They seem to be coming earlier this year.

When migrating which is fall. we have them year round too but they seem to be pretty content with all the mice etc that are available but come end of Sept what your seeing now will most likely be heading down here. Mine have to stay inside the fenced area after that, lots more places to hide.

Aww Coach will be getting spoiled good for him

Ugh, I love raptors but hate that they prey on other birds. Wish they'd eradicate rats or termites. But it is what it is and I'd never ever harm one.

Awe, sweet Coach. You brought him inside and so he is a house chicken for the night. How cute that is. He needs it. I laughed that you said you had a laundry basket for him to sleep in. Let us know how his night in goes.

I just read this Patti after I posted about the hawks eating mice. Good. I like that. I am glad your birds have lots of hiding places in your fenced in area. Yay for safety.

Coach did ok last night. I returned him to the coop this morning. He had to show Goldie (bantam cochan) where the food was. She is perfectly capable of finding the food but that is his job.

Patti you have a lot of hawks coming your way. I understand they have to eat I just wish they would find something besides chickens and ducks. I am glad I have Bubba to alert everyone. I was surprised that Skiddles joined in the alert too. I can always tell if they are in the area too. There are no wild birds in the yard. They hide along with the chickens and ducks.

I hope everyone has a nice day and dont smash a rose bush. I'm still laughing about that.

Yep no more sitting in the Rose bush lol glad to hear Coach did well inside last night. He'll begin to show more attention to some of the other girls now, My lil game bantam roo has one special hen she is game bantam too but while she was broody this year Rufus spent alot of time with one of my BA's and she makes 2 of him. Maybe she was his body guard.

Crows will mostly keep hawks away. We do everything we can to encourage crows to nest around our yard. That's the best hawk deterrent we've found so far.
