baby duck with lots of problems

Thank you!! He's my baby boy and it's so precious to be able to hug and smooch on him my others would rather I didn't.
He has been in the house 2 hrs now and still isn't ready to go outside. His poor girls probably think he has abandoned them. lol
oh, hug and smooch away, Miss Lydia. I certainly would. Cute he isn't ready to go out yet. The girls can wait.

Happy July 1 Opie. You are so cute on your towel relaxing like that and you are a good boy for resting on it. Thanks for putting it up. He is a stunner for sure.

Why did the drake make Opie go over the fence like that? Was he trying to get him out of "his" territory? Poor Opie. Probably was scared of the drake?

4yrs June 2nd Poor thing his mama tried to kill him when he hatched, thankfully i came inside their house right as he had hatched so I took him away from her I had a broody chicken so I slipped him under her she did want him so he came inside what a morning that poor duckling had till someone wanted him. Of course he was our baby.
That is awful. Why would she do that? I am happy it all turned out well.

I'd probably burst into tears if I saw a mama rejecting a baby. I'm very glad you were in the right place at the right time.
I'd never had that happen before, she was perfect broody but I think she just freaked out when those eggs actually started doing something. The other egg didn't make it so Opie was her only hatchling that year. I know it was a miracle I got there when I did she had pecked him hard on his lil head to make open places. But they healed up quick and he is healthy, you just never know what goes on in the mind of a broody.

Que Sera floats. Heehee. She is a boat bird and lets her paddles dangle in the water. Regarding thick necks on fowl. I always assume the thicker necked Canada goose is the male when he is close to a female in proximity. And generally his body is bigger too. Is Thelma just shy towards people in general? And if you just wander too close to her does she move away?

Que Sera is funny. Chasing Hershey.
Thelma won't let anyone near her. I only have two ducks that will eat out of my hand. Topper and Dee Dee the rest of them won't let me close. They will come up to me for treats but I have to throw it to them. That's what makes Que Sera even more special I actually have a duck that will let me hold her. Now that her feathers have come in she's letting me hold her again.

I just put her in the back yard she floated in the tub again this morning. Those little legs dangling down looked so cute. I'm shocked here she is not screaming for me to come out. I can see her walking around in the yard but she's not yelling for me to come out. I hope they haven't duck taped her mouth shut. lol

Hopefully she is becoming comfortable in her surrounding and growing up Mama. always hard to let them go.

That is so cute. I've never had a miscovey (i spelled that wrong) before but looking at Opie I am putting that on my wish list. Does he stay in the house very long? I sure hope Que Sera remembers us if she joins the flock.

Thanks for sharing Opie with us. Give him an extra treat and hug from me..
