X2!!

I was sitting here at the computer when i hear this crash and think probably one of my chickens has jumped into the water bucket and knocked it over, well it was my young gander he stepped on the chicken waterer trying to get to the gate there was a deer on the outside of the fence and it started snorting probably as scared as the geese and ducks were and boy did those geese and ducks high tail it to the gate scared them to death. lol This is the gate I keep closed to keep the geese and ducks away from my old drake and his 2 girls. They are still inside a no climb horse fence but I think that deer really scared them. Poor babies. Never a dull moment

He sure was a cutie. I have to tell ya'll this, a couple days after he hatched [I had to keep him upstairs in my room] because we have 4 dogs and I didn't want him running around downstairs unless I could give him my undivided attention, so we took a metal dog crate and wrapped it in hardware cloth to keep him and bedding in the crate, worked on it quite a while to get it safe, so I take it upstairs put everything in it then Opie, come back down stairs and start supper, Now I have to tell you our home is a an A frame so to join the 2 upstair bedroom we have a cat walk hope you know what that is, anyway I tell my dh sounds like Opie is walking right above me on the cat walk, and oh my gosh he was he had climbed all the way to the top of that crate and I guess fell on the floor and walked out of the bedroom and was standing at the top of the steps when I started up them. He is only 2 days old. lol so from then on after I took my winter clothes out of the huge container they were in that became Opies new brooder till he graduated to the X large dog crate .And I kept the door closed so when we were not able to be with him he had the run of the bedroom, I went through alot of newspaper and paper towels back then.
Oh my after all the work you did and the little stinker gets out. lol They are quite the escape artist. Thank goodness for those little web feet or you would have never heard him. I love the sound of them on the floor except when they are one floor up and at the top of the stairs. I'm so glad he didn't attempt to go down the stairs. Opie is a sweetheart.

Wow! Positively gorgeous!!

What are the primary differences (personality, lifestyle, required care) between ducks and geese? I'm already thinking of adding and not sure if I should stick with ducks or branch out with geese.

Then last year in June we added 2 goslings Babe who turned out to be a gander and Toots the light one who is American Buff is the female they were 1 yrs old last of May I got them as 2 day olds. Missy and Sammy lost their only gosling to make it to hatch it died trying to hatch. So we got these 2 for them after I kept them for 3 weeks while Missy got over brood and loss I gave the 2 to them and they have been one happy family ever since.
