baby duck with lots of problems

Not quite a girl name, but we didn't know her gender at the time. The older they get, the more difficult it is to get pics of them being still! I had to measure necks last night for their bandanas. That was an adventure! Alfalfa is the bossiest/loudest of them all. She's the alarm sounder when anything seems wrong.
Waaaaaah. I wanna meet your ducks Debs. And pattyhen's too. Love Alfalfa's bossiness.

They are getting bandanas? Oh my you will have to get pics of them sporting their new duds. Thats going to be too cute.

Of course Alfalfa is the bossiest she probably has the biggest mouth. Plus she is huge compared to the other girls. I love pekins they are probably my favorite breed of duck.

Pekins always have a smile on their faces it would be very hard not to love them.
Hi everyone I am finally back, My dad had a very sweet crossing and is now busy making flowers beds in heaven.

OH, Miss Lydia. I am so sorry. As you know I am all too freshly aware of your situation. I had been thinking of you all week. I am glad he is in a place of peace. I am glad you are back. I did miss you but understood your circumstances.

Speaking of heat, it's reached us in Oregon. Today's high will be 101. Oh, yay.

Your ducks are hilarious Patty. And I absolutely love the names. Freckles and Dee Dee. So cute. I wanna see Topper. And Uno's face with the markings. Please squeeze Que Sera for me.
Thank you Julie, Robbie has promised to take some pics shortly. I hope we can get Uno's black eyes. If I could catch Que Sera I will give her a big old hug. She loves to wrap her neck around mine.

Yes we have had some heat but it's been in the 80s so I can handle that as long as the air conditioner keeps going.

How is Opie doing? I would love to see a pic of him if it's not to much trouble. I'm hoping to get some pictures of my ducks and chickens shortly.

I'm in Oregon too, lucky you for it only being 101 it's going to be at least 106 today and the weather guy said that it would probably be even higher than that. It really worries me because I've lost two chickens this year to heat stroke I think, I thought it was some illness and was keeping them put up so the ducks wouldn't get sick as I treated it, I think now though it was too hot in the coop. Especially since when a partial necropsy was done nothing was found wrong with them. Anyone have tips on how to keep them cool? I put frozen bottles around the yard for them to lay by, they've not figured that one out yet though, I've also got a fan in the coop and give them water melon and stuff. When I notice them panting with wings out I do chicken dipping, full up a bucket with cold water and set them in it

Thanks Patty, And I have to agree with you about the smiling.

Opie is fine other than he has become Mr.Macho and i have had to take him down a peg or 2 over the last few days. Grr. 2 of his girls are broody and moody and I think it has affected him

And NO they are not sitting on eggs. lol We are to get a break in the temps too which I can already feel by air quality. Wonderful. I lost one of my EE's to a pred the other day so everyone has been confined to their half acre fenced in property and they are not liking it one bit you'd think they were in a small closet or something.
hmm.png

Not had a pred get anyone in 3 yrs and she up and vanished with out a trace.

I'll try and get some pics today since it won't be unbearable being outside. Look forward to seeing yours too.
