baby duck with lots of problems

LOL, Patty. The guy my husband works for has something similar going on. He bought some chickens back in the spring, and he now has so many eggs he's having trouble giving them away. Have you thought about giving your excess ones to a food bank?

Interesting that everybody wants to use the same nest box. Is there something special about that one?
The same thing happened to me. I bought 7 chicks this spring and boy are they laying. Then I have all the female ducks their all laying exept for Yoo Hoo and Que Sera. I'll never know when they start laying because I can't keep track of whose eggs are whose now. I should call a food bank and see if they will take some eggs. I don't want them to go waste they work to hard to lay all these eggs.

The nest box that they all like is really a pet crate without a door. The other nesting boxes are wood and most have a top on them. They must like plastic because the pet carrier is the only one that is plastic.

I believe it is a chicken thing. My chickens are the same way which ever gets to a nest box first that is the one everyone wants to use for the day. And the rest will stand and squawk till it's their turn.

Patty Lovely assortment of colored eggs, unless I am baking my ducks eggs go to the dogs and having 5 they get used up pretty quick.
Chicken eggs go to church family.

I'll try to get a good pic of Opie soon, I have been painting so haven't had alot of spare time.
The eggs really are pretty I was hoping for a blue one but I think two of the easter eggers are laying green ones. I've got so many I can't figure out whose are whose. I left out the brown ones on my list. The Isa browns lay the dark brown eggs. Those are the ones that worry me. I wish I could tell them they don't have to lay any eggs. It's heartbreaking to know I have 2 chickens that will lay theirselves to death. I will love them for the short time they have and give them the best life I can give them.

Whenever you get a chance for Opie's pic will be fine. What are you painting?

I wish my dogs would eat the eggs. I tried but they turned their noses up at the boiled eggs.

That is so funny. Your ducks are real characters. Maybe they like the pet crate because it's completely enclosed. You might be able to pick up more of those on Craig's List. People sell them really cheap on our local one.

LOL...thank goodness the bunnies aren't laying eggs! Here I am green with egg envy. I'm already looking around wishing/hoping for eggs. Yeah, I think I'm a bit early since my girls will only be 19 weeks tomorrow, but a girl can dream!
Debbie be careful what you wish for.

They might bombard you with eggs. I can always send you eggs if you get to green. I don't think you would want to eat eggs that have come in the mail tho. They would probably be scrambled by the time you get them.

I just gave away about 30 eggs. Yeahhh. A friend of Josh's eats about 6 a day and he was happy to get them he even likes the duck eggs. I told him to stop by in a couple of days and I would probably have more.

It's the chickens that stand in line for the pet carrier. I need to purchase a few more since they like them so well.

The ducks lay everywhere. They hide their nests but here lately they've taken to laying them on the ground in plain sight. That is fine with me.

Ha, my ducks LOVE their carrier, they both jostle and bully one another out of the one I've got standing in the corner right now!

Mine get raw mixed in their food in the morning and share boiled eggs in the evening, my dogs will eat anything.

So sad they made chickens that lay themselves to death. I did not know that about Isa Browns.

Not normal when humans tamper with what God made so well.

i have been painting doors and window trim on my outside duck/geese and chicken coops. Then painted the front and back doors to our home, about to be through till I start inside once the weather runs me in.
