baby duck with lots of problems

We have big white duck eggs, green eggs, pink eggs, tan eggs and white eggs.  I always see the posts on when will my chickens or ducks start laying.  Now I ask you when will they stop laying?  ;)   I've got eggs in the fridge eggs on the counter I'm getting over run with eggs here.  The supply is much more then the demand.  I even tried peeling some eggs and fed them to the dogs. The dogs wouldn't eat them.  I chopped up about 20 boiled eggs and handed them out this morning.  The ducks and chickens gobbled them down.  If they ever get tired of them I'm in big trouble.

I've got a line waiting in the coop for the popular nesting box.  I've got at least 7 nesting boxes in the coop but they all want to use just one nesting box.  The ducks have run out of hiding places now their just dropping them on the ground.  Hey that is fine with me no more crawling under wood piles and bending down trying to get in the duck house.  They also like to lay under the holly bush which tears my arms up trying to get them out.  If the holly bush doesn't get me the yucca plant does.  We've got little wild rabbits running around the yard.  Thank goodness they don't lay eggs unless we get one that thinks she's the easter bunny.

I've got everyone fed and watered this morning.  The ducks like to get in the big water bowls.  They have two pools but the water bowls are so much more fun.

Patti we need a new pic of Oppie.  If he can leave his girls long enough to come inside and get his handsome face in a new pic.  That swagger of his is halarious.

Another great bunch of happenings at Patty's.

Opie those poses are magnificent. You have outdone yourself with these. That chest and wing span what can I say. Isn't it called a six pack on the chest when a man has big muscles? Well Oppie has at least a 12 pack. Love Love the pics.. Thanks Patti for sharing these pics. They made my day.

I love hearing about everyone's birds..they're all such characters. Opie sure is a cutie flapping his wings after a bath, showing off for the camera...or perhaps the girls? haha.

So, yesterday was the "We got the chickens a year ago today" day and i guess that was making my mom remember how cute and small they were as chicks, and now she wants to get more! I dunno if my dad will agree to this, but I'm on board with it! And, since my mom wants more chickens now (even though she never wanted any in the first place haha, look how much she loves them now) I'm thinking now would be a good time to maybe introduce the idea of another female duck, to at least even out the male to female ratio; and someone had posted a picture of some call ducks and I'm like adoring how cute they are so I show her some pictures of them and their fat faces and small beaks..then my heart breaks bc someone also posted a Welsh Harlequin and Call Duck photo showing size difference..so now I've gotta find a different breed to work on.

Any ideas on some chicken/duck breeds to consider? I love my Barred Rock girls, but I don't wanna get anymore of them because it'd feel like replacements for the two we lost a while ago, even though they wont be, it'd just feel that way. I'd just love some help deciding which birds would be easiest to introduce to the flock and not fight each other ya know? Might look into a scovie for the duck female bc my mom loves their mask! Would they be too big for my WH? I'm clueless on all this stuff and I know everyone here isn't clueless so thanks haha

If you want a smaller chicken the batam cochans are really sweet. Do you have any of those? I love the orphingtons too. They are a friendly breed maybe a little bossy with the other chickens but not mean.

If you get a female scovy and she breeds with the Wh all of her babies will be mules. That is a good birth control if you have to many ducks. I've never had a scovy but after seeing Opie I would love to have one.

Found a store selling easter Eggers and my mom wants a welsummer so..any opinions on those breeds? Only getting two chick's! Thanks all

I wish my dogs would eat anything. They are so picky it isn't even funny.

I know it's sad about the Isa Browns it makes me so mad that they can develope a breed of chicken that has a shortened life expectency just so they can lay more eggs.

Wow you have a big job undertaking there. Painting outside and then going inside too. Be careful on the ladders. I don't go past the 3rd rung of a ladder. If it's higher then that hubbie has to paint the top part. What color did you paint the doors to your house? I would love to paint ours a hunter green color.

Patty
I just painted dark brown like chocolate brown our siding is a tanish color and we have a green metal roof so we look like a tree lol

I want to change the color on the inside of my house I have lived with green on the inside for too long now I need a change. Hubby does all high painting too.
