baby duck with lots of problems

Topper and her food. She is in charge for sure. But she is a duck and love her lots. Awe, poor Freckles. I bet she was scared getting stuck. So thankful you found her in time and rescued her. Interesting about the other ducks looking at you in a way where they thought you were trying to kill her. I can only imagine they stopped what they were doing to observe. Did she fight you as you were trying to free her? I am glad she is ok.
I really don't know how Topper keeps her slim figure. She eats her food and everyones elses she can get ahold of .

Freckles did flap her wings when I picked her up she soon settled down. She was just happy to be away from that netting when we cut her free. Yes the ducks can give you that look like your killing one of them. They stop in place and watch and if they could frown they would be doing that.

Do they foot-flaps? No matter how often I hold Wobbles n' Bean (which is, like, once every half hour) they always flap their feets frantically, it's hilarious!

That isn't fair. She probably spends most her time on her webs foraging rather than just pancaking all over the place. So she is actually an active girl and also knows that when she eats mounds of other birds' food she won't get fat.

I am glad little Freckles settled down. Awful being stuck. I have this vision of all your ducks who were watching the ordeal would have had their heads tilted slightly giving you and Freckles the one eyed side glances.

why do ducks do that Amy? I was house sitting a friend's ducks a few years ago and when I would pick up the Pekin to put her in for he night, she'd flap her feets like crazy like that. It was funny except I almost dropped her.

I think they just don't like having their feet off the ground. Either that or they're trying to swim in the air. Either way it's adorable.

Foot flaps you have described and named it to a tee. They must be trying to find the ground.

I'm so happy that she is bonding with Uno like she is. They do look like a couple. What is Topper up too? Eatting, eatting and eatting. If Topper doesn't eat something nobody will. Poor Freckles was caught in the netting I put over the flower bed to keep the ducks and chickens out this morning. She was hanging by one leg I had to scream for hubbie to bring the scissors and cut the netting off of her foot. She is ok but the other ducks looked at me like I was trying to kill her. She was ok and didn't limp at all when we set her free. Thank goodness.

That was scary they can get themselves into things so easily, never had a duck caught in netting but had a huge blk snake caught in bird netting why he would even think it could go through those tiny hole is beyond me but I had to cut him out. Ands I had those sticky fly things hanging from the ceiling of the coop way high too and one of my bantam he ns managed to get hung on it by her wing. Boy is that stuff sticky too.

Glad your duck was okay once you got her out Patty.
That is so sweet the Uno and Que Sera will be mates, happened here with one drake hatched a month before the lil duck was and he took to her right off they were in separable after that.

Patti aren't you afraid of snakes? I am deathly afraid of them no matter what size or if they are venomous or not. I'm afraid that snake would have sit there until hubbie cut it out.

I'm glad you rescued your hen from the fly paper. Yesterday I come home from visiting Aubree and Robbie said there is a hen walking around with the mouse glue paper trap on her side. He said he tried to get it off but couldn't. It took us both to remove that from her wing. She was good during the whole process. I had to give her a bath and she was pretty good in the bathtub except when she perched on the water falcet and I dropped the hose nossle trying to get her off. Here I am holding a wet chicken and the falcet is spraying me in the face. This must be the week for rescues. I hope it ends with the mouse glue trap.

I have to get everyone fed and watered and I hope everyone has a good day.

That is powerful sticky stuff, Patti, for the little hen to stick for it. I bet she was scared to death. I am glad you rescued her.
