baby duck with lots of problems

Many, many moons ago I was being trained to become a vet tech. I had to leave that field only because it simply doesn't pay well enough. Anyway, I've been bitten countless times from you name it...dogs, cats, an African Grey, goats, hamsters, etc. It was that bird and the hamster that hurt the most. Bites don't really phase me much. It's usually just because they're scared, they're trying to dominate or it's accidental. Can't really blame them for that. Serrated bills, though, put a little scare in me, though.

PS...

Please don't forget...deadline for "other poultry" calendar picture submissions is tomorrow. I know I've seen some wonderful pics on the duck threads that haven't been submitted yet...

Even as nasty as Sam can be I can't imagine not having him, This is why so many people are afraid of geese though they have had a bad experience with them usually in parks it is from geese being fed by the public and they get food aggressive and will literally run after people if they think they have food, then next thing you know the park is having to rid themselves of problem geese when it isn't even the geese fault although they are very protective of their mates and gosling too. But if given wide space and respect they will leave us alone.

I have a friend on here that has seen all the geese removed from her park because they were deemed mean and all were domestics that had been dumped, thankfully she and her group found all the geese safe homes but how sad. One person actually let their dog attack one of the geese and it did live because K and her group made sure to get it medical help and rehab. This member is an angel to me she has even given 2 of the geese a home with her.

Sorry I get vocal when it comes to geese and how they are perceived got on a soap box there.

I'm glad your friend saved the geese. We have a large park too with a lake and 3/4s of the ducks and geese are domesticated. I don't see how anyone could dump their pet knowing that they depend on them for food and care.

I agree Patty it's heart breaking ..

Thankfully we only have a mountain river in our county and so far haven't seen any dumped geese only Canada but I was told there is a large group of feral Muscovy that live on our river just haven't been down this way. other that the ones we adopted.

Here is today's pics this is Opies 2 loves sitting on their nest.

They are beautiful I want a muscovy so bad and of course a little call duck too. I can see why Opie loves them so much. Thanks for sharing their pics with us. I need to get Robbie to take some pics he's been so busy here lately. He has a new girlfriend.

This is not duck related but I thought I would share. I clipped Nuggets wing this morning and who is running in the street behind our house. Nugget. The little huzzy is still flying across the fence. I watched a u tube video on how to clip wings and I guess I didn't clip enough of the flight wing. So tomorrow morning I'm going to have to cut off another two inches of feathers.
