baby duck with lots of problems

Thanks Patti for the diagram. I don't think I cut enough of the flight feathers. I only cut like two inches up on the feather. I'll try it again today. She is pretty determined to fly out of the yard, she maybe like your little chicken. Nugget is the Isa Brown chicken. Mrs. Brown her sister stays in the yard,

I hope everyone has a nice day I need to get out there and get everyone fed and watered.

I agree Patty it's heart breaking ..

Thankfully we only have a mountain river in our county and so far haven't seen any dumped geese only Canada but I was told there is a large group of feral Muscovy that live on our river just haven't been down this way. other that the ones we adopted.

Here is today's pics this is Opies 2 loves sitting on their nest.
Adorable girls sitting side by side look all puffy and soft and need me to kiss them. Tell Opie his ladies are very beautiful.

I'll tell him you said that. lol

Please do!

Hi Miss Lydia,

I have a question about your pool set-up. I see that it is sitting on a pallet, did you install a drain or anything in it? I'm curious as to why you have it raised up like that. I've just got one sitting on the grass, but I move it every few days so it doesn't kill the grass. I'm trying to figure out something a little larger with a drain though because anything bigger and heavier and I won't be able to dump out the water. I was thinking of digging something in but the idea of raising it up instead never occurred to me.

I raised it up to keep them from drilling into the mud and washing off their faces so much into the water, and there is a ramp that you can't see in the pic they use to get in and out. i also stabled landscaping material over top of the pallet so they wouldn't step through the openings.
No plug in this one it's small enough I use a bucket to get as much water as I can out them just dump it.

Now my big kiddy pool I do this I start the hose then turn off the water unscrew from faucet and pull down hill or just out from the pool so the hose is straight it drains on it's own. I live on the side of a mountain so it works great here but another memeber on the goose thread who lives in Florida said she does this with her pool and it works so it's not so much down hill as suction.

Oh, cool, that's a good idea for keeping the muddy pool water down to a minimum.

So when you siphon your bigger pool, you at first run the hose into the pool, then turn it off, unhook it from the house and then let the water run out backwards? Does it ever get clogged up? My main concern would be dirty water and gunk getting stuck in my hose. Or do you use different hoses for clean and dirty water?

By the way Patty, thanks for letting me hi-jack your thread with random questions!!

I have never had the hose clog up and I have been doing it this way for years. I do take a net and scoop out leaves when they begin to fall. But yes I do it just like you said and it works great, while the water is running out I also use the broom and scrub around the edges to get the nasty stuff that sticks to the pool.
