baby duck with lots of problems

You may have a hen who has taken the lead, have you heard anyone making a warning sound. It's not 100%fool proof even having a roo, I lost a hen back in July to a hawk but he can help. Sometimes when there isn't a roo a hen will take over and become flock leader and sound the warning. As for the hawks we'll always have them but we just have to do our best to keep our flocks safe. You could try hanging old cd's around your yard in low branches, they say the shiny reflection makes Birds of prey reluctant to come down. You can go to the Predator and Prey thread and ask how others keep hawks away .

I have both ducks that keep a look out and when they run for cover the chickens usually, sometimes , would but Dave started attack the chickens so he's up when they're out and Lady doesn't give off a warning sound or anything when she spots a hawk She just lays down where she is when one flies over. I have done the CD thing in a few trees but we've got a fairly big yard and all the trees are on the edge, and the chickens spend time in the middle where there's no cover. I just wish they'd go after things besides my feathered babies!

Can you make some inexpensive cover for them Go to prey and pred again and ask what others do to make cover[inexpensive] for their flocks, I have seen some pics of different things. just don't remember where I saw them. My ducks use to stand still and watch the hawks fly over till one day a red tail came down and got one of my bantams they pay very good attention now when the rooster makes the warning call.

After a frantic visit to our local feed store for the lady who has infinite knowledge on chickens she told me it could be poision. I am in the process of feeding her charcole and vitamin water as we speak. Does anyone else have ideas on what it could be.
Wont stand up, pupils dilated, eyes closed, panting, pale pale comb.

Yup, shes a year and a half old now. I will use this link! thanks for it, some people already responded to my other post they think it's botulism...thanks for the link. I hope she pulls through too

She died last night shortly after I responded here...I wasn't there when she died but I was told they looked over and she was fine and then just laid her head down closed her eyes and stopped breathing..

I'm so sorry. any ideas what she may have gotten into? so you can get rid of it to protect the others.

I know she had a wonderful life with you and you did every thing possible for her.
