Backyard Brahmas!!

I'm not sure what those are but I am curious.  I took my cousin's daughter to an auction 2 wks ago looking for silkies for her.  She won a box of assorted "feather footed chicks"  Six I can identify as silkies and/or cochins. The last has me stumped though.  It's easily twice the size of the bantam chicks so I know it's a large fowl.  Feather feet and a pea comb.  Feathering in pure white.  I'd swear it's a brahma chick except for the color.  And they're supposed to be no mixes in this assortment.

I will have to get a pic of the chick in question. But so far it's looking like yours.

How many toes? Sultans have 5 toes, vulture hocks, and are all white. Massive foot feathering. They are bigger than silkies, too.

How many roosters do you see?

not real sure what saddle feathers are....new to the chook game
Saddle feathers are the longer feathers draping over the back of the roo just in front of the tail feathers (similar to where you would keep saddle bags on a horse). Hope this pic isn't too small for you

Right in front of the tail, generally cockerels have long, thinner saddle feathers. This is why when you look at a picture of a cock bird (adult over 1 year old) they have feathers that drape in front of the tail...this is the saddle area. See arrow below.

thank you very much. one more thing I can add to the long list of things I have learned from BYC !
